Recall for dangerous lead: lipstick health risk
Lead has a fatal effect in the human organism. Life-threatening poisoning can occur when ingesting high doses and even small amounts are dangerous for humans, as the heavy metal accumulates in the human body over time and can thus lead to chronic poisoning. Therefore, strict limits also apply to lead for cosmetic products. However, the “Max & More Lipstick & Lipliner Set” lip care set was not adhered to, which is why a comprehensive product recall campaign was launched.
The non-food discounter "Action" has started a recall for the lip care set "Max & More Lipstick & Lipliner Set". The product "does not comply with the EC Cosmetics Regulation due to an increased lead content," the company said. The intake of lead threatens serious health problems. For this reason, customers are advised not to use the product under any circumstances.
Increased lead content in lipsticks
It has only recently been reported that numerous lip care sticks are contaminated with carcinogenic petroleum. Apparently there are health-endangering substances in some lipsticks. Action Deutschland GmbH, a non-food discounter, warns on its website about the “Max & More Lipstick & Lipliner Set” cosmetic set from D-Dutch. The product, which was sold in the action stores, "unfortunately does not comply with the EC Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 due to an increased lead content", the company writes.

Heavy metal, harmful to health
“Lead is a heavy metal with various harmful effects on health. The chronic toxic effects of lead have been intensively investigated in recent years and decades, ”writes the Lower Saxony State Health Office (NLGA) on its website.
Even when the smallest amounts are consumed, which are taken over a longer period of time, lead is deposited in the body - in bones and teeth.
Lead poisoning goes hand in hand with intestinal colic, headache, fatigue and loss of appetite. It can also affect fertility. Lead can also cause serious damage to the nervous system, blood formation and kidneys.
And a number of studies report “a connection with reduced mental development in children and increased intake of lead. The best known is the negative impact on children's intelligence quotient, ”says the NLGA. In the worst case, poisoning can even be fatal. (ad)
